I have to blog more often!!!
I guess with kids and the shop and trying to maintain a social life I struggle to find the time ....
But I HAVE been creating, in fact today I spent most of the day doing just that, in my new Art Room (formally known as our garage). I love that I have so much space, and I can leave something unfinished and come back to it, without needing to put it all away.
So I should share today's efforts ...
The first one has been a few days in the making and I finished it off this afternoon. I was inspired by a piece of 12x12 paper that recently came in from 7 Gypsies, one angel on one piece of paper basically inspired the whole creation. I have been wanting to do something with the Kaiser plaque for a while ... but something a little different. So here is the result ...
The background is done using the 7 Gypsies patterned paper with texture paste over the top - some stencilled on using the Glimmer Screens (love those!) and some just stippled on with a brush. Once that was dry added washes of paint ... I have used the Golden paints in Jenkins Green and Green Gold. The Green Gold is such an amazing colour, there is nothing like it in any other brands I have tried. I have also used the Metallic Bronze Lumiere's ... yes, we recently started stocking the Lumiere's and I adore them. The colours are amazing. If you haven't tried them before I urge you too.
Once all the washes of paint had dried I used Rub n Buff in Antique Gold to highlight the texture, along with Lumiere's. The name plaque is from the new range of Tim Holtz metallic embellishments - I have actually painted this one with Golden paint (Iridescent Fine Gold). Yes I know, I add that colour to almost everything I do!!! I have also used the Golden Glass Bead Gel inside the plaque.
I so enjoyed this project - it isn't a class sample - I made it just for me. I guess you could say it is just art for the sake of art. But of course like most of my art it will end up on display in the shop!!!
This afternoon I started (and finished) another "plaque" ... using the new papers from Graphic 45 that came in to the store this week. I have to say that it has been a while since a paper range has inspired me quite as much as this one days. I absolutely adore it. This plaque is actually a class I will be doing in July - although this is a class with a little difference - so look out for our updated July calendar which will be published this week.
Here are some sneaky peaks ...
So look out for details soon on this one ...
That's it from me for tonight, I will be back within a couple of days - I promise!!!
